Introduction

My name is Chip Williamson and I have done some pretty epic Easter egg hunts for my four kids over the years! Slowly these hunts morphed from just Easter egg hunts to full-out treasure hunts where I also tried to teach the kids something and encourage them to become more proficient with technology.

I found myself spending WAY too much time every year developing these treasure hunts! Usually I invested something in excess of 20 hours into each hunt. Each year I try to change up the hunt and keep it challenging and fun for the kids while I feature a different theme and technology.

It is definitely a lot of work – but the kids have always really enjoyed the hunts and they look forward to it every year. The past couple of years I have designed the hunt myself – without any involvement or input from my wife – so she could participate in the hunt right alongside the kids. That proved to be a very good idea! They all have a good time, my wife can help them – and I could make the puzzles a little more challenging.

In 2020 the theme was historic world landmarks, and the hunt featured a lot of encryption and GPS (Global Positioning Systems) based puzzles. The kids (and my wife) said the hunt this Easter was the best one that I have ever done! But then came Prometheus Rises – which was totally different – with a storyline – and they really enjoyed that one too!

After the 2020 hunt we got thinking that maybe we could do more than just a once-a-year Easter Egg & Treasure Hunt with this fun format that we had developed ….. We spent some time brainstorming and came up with a whole bunch of new themes & puzzle ideas – and decided to start a website devoted to themed treasure hunts for BOTH kids & adults!

I hope you enjoy them!

Sincerely,

Inspiration

These treasure hunts were inspired from the likes of some great movies and books! As a kid I really enjoyed the Indiana Jones movies. So much so that I even considered a graduate degree in archaeology at one point!

Later on, it was the National Treasure movies, and most recently the Treasure Hunter series of books that the kids thoroughly enjoyed – and I read as well!

I share this to forewarn you & offer some context for these treasure hunts and how they are designed to be so much more than scavenger hunts and the like!
