EpicTreasureHunts.com all started with this hunt!

This is the Easter egg & treasure hunt I did for my kids for Easter 2020.  At the time of this hunt my kids ranged in ages from 3 – 11 years old.  My wife also participated in the hunt.  (I developed it without her assistance – for the very purpose of her being able to fully participate in the hunt and help the children.)

The theme for this hunt is historic world landmarks. The hunt features a lot of GPS and encryption puzzles.

See the description below for more information on the types of puzzles used in this hunt, the other items you will need to prepare for the hunt.

Recommended Ages 12+

FAIR WARNING: If you expect this to be a run-of-the-mill hunt – you will be in for a real shocker!  This was designed to be a challenge that takes some time, patience, creative thinking & problem solving skills!

Recommended Ages 12+

Requirements:

  1. Cell phone with Internet access. This hunt utilizes QR codes and requires participants to be able to access various websites to obtain clues and directions.  So a cellular phone with access to the Internet is REQUIRED!
  2. 4 digit combination lock.  Preferably, one that you can customize the combination!
  3. Lockable container.  You will need a container that can be locked with the combination lock.
  4. ~50 Plastic eggs (35 minimum) – to hide the clues in. One should be of a GOLD color – because that is the egg they will need to find to really get the treasure hunt aspect of this started!
  5. Small treats (optional) – to put in the Easter eggs (in addition to the clues for the hunt! Maybe jelly beans – or my suggestion – chocolate!
  6. Printer – to print off all the clues (and the additional hints – in case they need them).
  7. Scissors – to cut the clues apart.
  8. Treasure!  Pick something that will excite the participants to find!!
  9. Treasure chest – to hold the final treasure!
  10. Bunny ears – It is an Easter egg hunt after all!
